With
an average high temperature of 88 and 61 degrees for
a low, conference visitors can expect to enjoy one of
the best months for weather in Phoenix, Arizona. The
humidity is low, but the temperatures can get hot, so
it is wise to follow the advice of the Arizona Department
of Health Services and take common sense precautions
to prevent heat-related illnesses when enjoying Arizona's
warm weather. The reminders should be heeded even though
the calendar says October.
Top tips for taking precautions are:
- Don't wait until you are thirsty. Stay hydrated with
liquids such as water and wear appropriate clothing
and a brimmed hat
- Wear sun screen with a minimum SPF15, and apply at
least 30 minutes prior to going outdoors. Avoid applications
to your forehead and around your eyes because sun screen
could run into your eyes due to sweating. Always wash
hands before rubbing eyes.
- Infants, children and pets also need to be included
when preparing for outdoor protection.
With common sense preparations completed, it's time
to venture forth for some outdoor fun. You can arrange
a walking tour or a hike within the city. Contact the
concierge at the Hyatt Regency to arrange a Rosson House
Museum or Historic Heritage Square walking tour of Phoenix.
The walking tours include guided tours that can be planned
for 1 ½ hours, ½ day tour, or all day.
But don't stop
after touring downtown Phoenix, as there are other areas
of interest for walking or taking a short hike. Piestewa
Peak and Dreamy Draw, Camelback Mountain, Tempe Town
Lake and Papago Park are all within driving distance.
If you are walking or hiking, be sure to wear comfortable
shoes and don't forget your camera.
You'll
love the tours and the weather will seem like a second
spring.
