The Tennessee Coalition for Mediation Awareness, dedicated to increasing public understanding of mediation and other forms of conflict resolution in Tennessee, distributed its first press release to over 700 media outlets across the state on September 11, 2006. October 19, 2006: “Mediators Achieving Peace” Peer Mediation Training

 

“Mediators Achieving Peace” is a peer mediation training program developed by the State Bar of Texas for 7th and 8th grade students.  There will be 100 students from five Waco ISD middle schools who will be attending the peer mediation training program on Conflict Resolution Day 2006.  Volunteer attorneys from the Waco-McLennan County Bar Association will be the instructors and mentors for the students.  There will be a Swearing-In ceremony at the end of the training.  The Honorable Vicki Menard, Judge of the 414th Judicial District Court of McLennan County, Texas, will administer the Peer Mediator’s Oath to the students.

Join in a free event designed to celebrate and teach the arts and practice of communication and conflict resolution hosted by the City of Vancouver/Clark County Community Mediation Services (CMS) and Greater Vancouver Interfaith Association (GVIA).

 

Celebrate community and learn how to live together with our differences through interactive vignettes and workshops at a day-long event, “How Strangers Become Neighbors.” The event is Saturday, Oct. 28, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the First Congregational Church, 1220 NE 68th St. in Hazel Dell. A community lunch, prepared by Muslim, Jewish and Christian members of GVIA, will be a time to get to know each other and to honor five extraordinary citizens receiving Creative Peacemaker Awards. After lunch join in a community dialogue to explore and share what inspires us to be peacemakers and to reaffirm or make new commitments to creating cultures of peace in our community.
