What
is the Annual Fund Campaign?
Implemented
by ACR’s Board of Directors in 2002,
the Annual Fund Campaign enhances ACR’s
programs,
publications,
and membership
services and helps keep dues lower than
other professional associations.
Why
an Annual Fund Campaign? Don’t my
annual dues cover my cost of membership?
While membership dues support a large
percentage of ACR’s membership services,
they do not provide adequate financial
support for all of ACR’s programs
and services, such as professional
conferences, leadership development,
special projects,
and legislative
and public policy initiatives. Additional
funding is also needed to help cover ACR’s
operating expenses, which enable ACR to
provide quality membership benefits
and advance the practice, field and study
of conflict resolution.
Why
not just raise annual dues?
ACR is committed to inclusivity
and diversity. Following the merger,
we purposely set our dues at a very low
rate in an effort to retain and attract
members. Four years later, ACR initiated
a slight dues increase and is now engaged
in comprehensive strategic planning, which
may include a discussion on the possibility
of another slight increase. However, the
Board feels that a significant raise in
dues would prohibit some, if not many,
of our members from joining or renewing
their membership in ACR. Therefore, ACR
has chosen not to rely solely on membership
dues for this purpose.
Why
is my participation so important?
Participation
in ACR’s Annual Fund not only reflects
your ideological commitment to ACR and
the field of conflict resolution, but
also demonstrates ACR’s energy and
vitality to prospective foundation and
corporate donors. In other words, broad
member participation in the Annual Fund
can strengthen ACR’s ability to
get foundation and corporate grants.
What
will my contribution to ACR help accomplish?
Your contribution to ACR’s Annual
Fund will help support ACR’s membership
services that are not covered by dues,
important policy
and outreach initiatives, and special
projects that benefit the entire field
of conflict resolution such as ACR’s
Quality
Assurance and Education Outreach Initiatives.

"To
be responsible professionals, we
need to promote our professional
association. We can't advance the
field of conflict resolution alone.
We need a mechanism for coming together
and ACR is that mechanism."
-Bernard
Mayer, Ph.D.

"I
contribute to the annual fund because
I believe it is important to the
field to have a home like ACR. I
feel I am helping to expand the
capacity of our organization to
meet needs of people wanting to
begin a career in mediation."
