Call for Articles

ACResolution is preparing its first issue since early 2020. This special number will explore  the unprecedented circumstances that have marked recent months, and even decades, and the particular role conflict specialists of all types can play in healing and advancing our society.

The issue’s title is “A Nation in Crisis: What Is Our Response?”

The issue will consider contributions covering three broad areas:

  • The mounting call for systemic change in our treatment of racial and other inequalities, in all areas of society
  • The pandemic, and its general and specific effects, including the differential impact it has had on marginalized persons
  • The successes and failures of national and local leadership in responding to the challenges we face as a people

Because of the breadth of the issues, and the strong feelings they provoke, we seek articles of several types:

  • Background on the specific issues, such as justice, health care, and housing, including causes and past failings
  • Diverse opinions on what must be done immediately and in the longer term to resolved these problems
  • Local or broader projects, organizations, and efforts that are bearing fruit
  • Personal experiences from mediators, facilitators, and others working in these fields.

Other, briefer contribution that will be considered for special sections:

  • Short reviews and recommendations for books, articles, web sites and other media you find useful
  • Brief quotations that speak to you  from current or historic voices.

While not seeking to silence any voices, we ask that you write as respectfully as is compatible with the strength of your concerns and convictions.

If you have questions about the appropriateness of an idea, or its expression, we welcome e-mails, outlines, or drafts (suggested length 1000-3000 words), provided these are submitted by August 3. Completed pieces are also welcome at that time, but may be submitted up to August 28.

Please address all correspondence, including drafts in Word, to
Richard Barbieri, Managing Editor
